French as a Second Language (FSL):
Core French is taught from K-7. Students will develop basic French language and skills. Your child’s French abilities and vocabulary are developed through the use of themes and projects. The development of language is supported through stories, plays, songs, gestures and other activities.
Kindergarten – Grade 4:
- Listening and viewing with intent help us acquire language
- Both verbal and non-verbal cues contribute meaning

Grade 5:

French Learning Assistance Department:
The French Learning Assistance Department supports students in the French Immersion program. The department consists of an experienced French Immersion resource teacher and several French speaking educational assistants. Each class receives a percentage of support according to the need in the classroom. Educational assistants also provide additional support for those students who require individual assistance. We help students succeed en Français.
Learning Resource Department:
Our Lady of Fatima has a Learning Resource Department that is comprised of an English and French speaking Resource Teacher and a team of Special Education Assistants. The goal of the Resource Department is to provide Special Education Services to students who have been identified according to the Ministry of Education’s criteria. In addition, the Resource Department provides services to students who require additional learning support in the form of adaptations or modifications within the natural setting of the classroom or intervention support services within the Learning Resource Classroom.
